One opportunity is at \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=https-3A__e-2Dactivist.com_ea-2Daction_broadcast.record.message.click.do-3Fea.url.id-3D1048492-26ea.campaigner.email-3D-252BRC4tYFKaJThpo9dnc8yTkMMXlYLDQyN335S-252FcJbWn4-3D-26ea.campaigner.id-3DohO3fBjpL\">RightsCon Toronto: May 16-18, 2018<\/a>. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightscon.org\/submission\/\">call for proposals<\/a> mentions &#8220;Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Algorithmic Accountability&#8221; as one of their program &#8220;buckets&#8221;. RightsCon is accepting proposals for presentations until November 24, 2017<strong>. <\/strong>Sessions will have <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.proofpoint.com\/v2\/url?u=https-3A__www.rightscon.org_toronto_&amp;d=DwMFaQ&amp;c=clK7kQUTWtAVEOVIgvi0NU5BOUHhpN0H8p7CSfnc_gI&amp;r=CnTTSgpOCRzlS1WUgQ5dgQ&amp;m=YsJkxRBTr2kB97LibM5jwA7j-6W11F7jfk7B9yT3erY&amp;s=wY9POFKIVbmXRsuRIsurHfAE3gEcWU_C11doVGMlj1c&amp;e=\">16 program buckets<\/a><\/strong>, which cover topics including\u00a0<em>Digital Security and Encryption<\/em>, <em>Artificial Intelligence, Automation, and Algorithmic Accountability<\/em> to <em>Misinformation, Journalism, and the Future of Online Media.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A new initiative is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rightscon.org\/community\/\">Local Champions at RightsCon Toronto<\/a>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>which features leading voices in Canada\u2019s digital rights landscape. They plan to support thought leadership, program guidance, and topic identification to ensure that the most pressing issues are represented at RightsCon.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Koene also shared information about the IEEE P7001 Working Group on the IEEE Standard on\u00a0Transparency of Autonomous Systems <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.ieee.org\/sagroups-7001\/\">http:\/\/sites.ieee.org\/sagroups-7001\/<\/a>. This working group is chaired by Prof. Alan Winfield who is also very interested in the idea of data recorders, like airplane &#8216;black boxes&#8217;, to provide insight into behavior of autonomous vehicles for accident investigation. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cems.uwe.ac.uk\/~a-winfield\/\">http:\/\/www.cems.uwe.ac.uk\/~a-winfield\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Please share additional opportunities for SIGAI members to join with other groups working on issues in algorithmic transparency and accountability.
