{"id":497,"date":"2019-03-05T22:22:58","date_gmt":"2019-03-05T22:22:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sigai.acm.org\/aimatters\/blog\/?p=458"},"modified":"2019-03-05T22:22:58","modified_gmt":"2019-03-05T22:22:58","slug":"call-for-nominations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sigai.acm.org\/main\/2019\/03\/05\/call-for-nominations\/","title":{"rendered":"Call for Nominations"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Editor-In-Chief ACM Transactions on Asian and Low-Resource Language Information Processing (TALLIP)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The term of the current Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of the <a href=\"https:\/\/tallip.acm.org\/\">ACM Trans. on Asian and Low-Resource Language\nInformation Processing (TALLIP)<\/a> is coming to an end, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/\">ACM<\/a> Publications Board has set up a nominating\ncommittee to assist the Board in selecting the next EiC.&nbsp; TALLIP was established in 2002 and has been\nexperiencing steady growth, with 178 submissions received in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations, including self nominations, are invited for a three-year term\nas TALLIP EiC, beginning on June 1, 2019. &nbsp;The EiC appointment may be renewed at most one\ntime. This is an entirely voluntary position, but ACM will provide appropriate\nadministrative support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Appointed by the ACM Publications Board,\nEditors-in-Chief (EiCs) of ACM journals are delegated full responsibility for\nthe editorial management of the journal consistent with the journal&#8217;s charter\nand general ACM policies. The Board relies on EiCs to ensure that the content\nof the journal is of high quality and that the editorial review process is both\ntimely and fair. He\/she has final say on acceptance of papers, size of\nthe Editorial Board, and appointment of Associate Editors. A complete list of\nresponsibilities is found in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/position_descriptions\">ACM\nVolunteer Editors Position Descriptions<\/a>. Additional information can be\nfound in the following documents: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/RightsResponsibilities\">&nbsp;Rights and Responsibilities in ACM Publishing<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acm.org\/publications\/policies\/evaluation\/\">ACM&#8217;s Evaluation\nCriteria for Editors-in-Chief<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Nominations should include a vita along with a brief statement of why the\nnominee should be considered. Self-nominations are encouraged, and should\ninclude a statement of the candidate&#8217;s vision for the future development of TALLIP.\nThe deadline for submitting nominations is April 15, 2019, although nominations\nwill continue to be accepted until the position is filled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please send all nominations to the nominating committee chair, Monojit\nChoudhury (<a href=\"mailto:monojitc@microsoft.com\">monojitc@microsoft.com<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The search committee members are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Monojit Choudhury (Microsoft Research, India), <em>Chair<\/em><\/li><li>Kareem M.
